Kapiti College Marae
On Friday the 25th of October Te Aramoana went to Kapiti College Marae to learn about the history.
The Te Aramoana syndicate was welcomed by a karanga. The syndicate had to take off their shoes to go into the wharenui. When they were standing outside of the wharenui waiting to be welcomed in, the boys went in first they had to hongi some of the Kapiti College people, after all the boys went the girls had to go in.
Then Matua Paora welcomed them in with a speech that was all in maori, when he was done Matua explained what he was talking about in english. After he was done explaining the Kapiti College people did a waiata. Then three boys from Waikanae school they were Manaaki, Dean and Marcus they did a speech for Kapiti College, After all that three girls from Waikanae school led our waiata.
After we had morning tea and a little play break, Kapiti College performed the haka. Then performed one haka that we had to do, then Te Aramoana was broken into two groups. One group had to learn how to do the haka and the other group learnt about the history of the marae.
When they were leaving Kapiti College did a farewell haka.
That day the syndicate learnt a lot about the marae.
