Beach Education

Beach Education

It was Wednesday the 20th of November and that was when Beach Education was on. I woke up really early, got dressed and did all my chores including feeding the lambs! When I had done all of my chores I got my togs and everything.

When everyone was ready my mum drove us to school, it was almost 9:00 when I got to class and everyone was sitting on the mat with their bags so I did that too. When the bell rang Mr Corlett did the roll and we ran down to the bus with Rm 19 (Rm 19 is the class we went with to Beach Education). When we were in the bus Mr Corlett got me to sit in the back seat with Drenna, Hannah, Jemma, Matarina, Madeline and this boy called Conrad I think and I felt sory for Ioana who had to sit with a boy called Ben Dunbar!

When the bus finally arrived at the Beach we were told to take off our shoes, put our bags on the ground and sit down on the mat so we did. Then the man and the lady introduced themselves to us and talked a bit to us and went over the rules. After that we got split into two groups one group was just room 6 and the other one was room 19. Before we split up my mum arrived and said hi. So room 6 went with taylor the life guard and she took us on a tour of their life guard house it was very cool my favourite part of the tour was when the lady showed us their life saving boat!! When the tour was finished we went back up to the life saving house and waited for max the man to finish with rm 19. So when max the lifeguard was finished he let rm 19 go with Taylor so we could do something with him. When we did find out what we were going to do with him it was half exciting and the half wasn’t so exciting. We had to learn about the survival kit and what they had inside of it. The most disgusting thing in it was the vomit sucker(the vomit sucker clears your throat for any vomit) I absolutely hated that my favourite part was when george volunteered to get strapped up to this board it was funny. Once we were finished with that we got to have some morning tea.

Once everyone had all eaten their morning tea we were told to run outside and wait for the lifeguards and the look out so we did. When the lifeguard arrived we all ran to the actual beach part we got to play about 5 or 6 games of seaweed. Then we played relays in relays two teams had to pair up to make one in my team was Ioana, Zaki, Ben, James, mum and I. In the team that we paired up with was Charlie, Oakley, Tennika, Lucy, Matarina, Jemma and Charlies mum. The first few relays we did was hold onto the lifeguard thing and run down and give it to the next person and my team won once! After that we did something like one person hold onto the lifesaving floatey and the other one was wrapped around it. After that we had to run with flippers and the put a life saving floatey around us (my team got really tight flippers so it took us the longest they were size 4!!).  Once that was all finished we had to go back inside so we all did and we got to watch this really funny lifesaving video and then we got to eat our lunch YAY!!
Once everyone had eaten their lunch we were told to get into our togs and bring our gear outside or into the changing rooms. So once we did we all waited for the life guards at the look out area. After we waited a while taylor said that she would take all the girls for an exercise type thing so max did that too. I thought that the exercise thing was very easy it was just showing us how to run in and out of the water correctly. So the boys got about a five second head start to run into the water before the girls invaded I did one lap around all of the adults and then I got pinched by a crab. so I stayed out for a while and then Mrs feron got me to hold her hand and took me into the deep so I didn’t touch the ground at all I just doggy paddled for the rest of the time.  After we had played in the water for about an hour we were told to get out of the water and go get changed so we did I got changed really quick because there were old people and I could not last another second! At last we took the bus back to school and waited for the bell to ring.

I think that Beach Ed was very helpful and I learnt a lot from it, it is very educational and helpful to people that aren’t aware of what could happen and how. I hope you enjoyed and goodbye for now
THE END!
